Design Graduate
In 2021, Instituto Tramontana—the design school I attended in 2017—approached me to create an online design systems course in English. The project involved developing a five-episode, high-production-value course. I was given complete creative freedom to design the curriculum and had the unique opportunity to serve as the instructor featured in the videos.
The research phase focused on diving deep into books, talks, and resources that explored the perspective of a full-time systems designer. The goal was to understand not only the principles of design systems but also what it means to work as a dedicated systems designer and how to excel in the role.
The material preparation phase focused on core topics essential to design systems: component design, branding, and building a robust design library. Each topic was crafted to provide a comprehensive understanding, balancing practical implementation with the strategic thinking necessary for scalable and cohesive design systems.
This project marked my first experience with filmmaking and working on a professional filming set—an unforgettable learning opportunity. One of my favorite aspects was how every detail of the set design was thoughtfully tied to design systems, reinforcing the course's themes visually. I wrote the scripts myself, but I was also given room to improvise, which I deeply appreciated. Speaking about design in a natural, conversational way is how I communicate best, and this flexibility allowed me to connect more authentically with the audience.
In 2023, Tramontana expanded their offerings with a comprehensive online design course covering all aspects of design, including design systems, where my course was featured as a dedicated chapter. I’ve since taken on the role of investor and advisor for Tramontana, supporting their growth and vision. Since its launch, the course has attracted nearly 400 signups, and while some sections are still in development, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
